We Celebrate Our 25th Year!

How thrilling it is to reach our 25th Brandenburg year.

Together with my co-founder Bruce Applebaum, we have presented countless brilliant international and Australian guest artists throughout the Brandenburg’s twenty-five years. With them, we have created this extraordinary, vital and dynamic orchestra and choir of which Bruce and I are immensely proud. Walking on stage to play music is an absolute joy and we love doing it.

With careful balance, creative designers like myself have a precious jewel to respect and nurture – baroque music and a baroque orchestra. The personality of the Brandenburg exudes brilliance, imagination, joy and elegance. So, with a blaze of strength, excitement and humour, our 25th year celebrations kick off with the spirit of the man behind the Baroque – J.S. Bach. The fusion of old and new gave me the inspiration to invite one of Australia’s leading composers to write a piece for our opening concert series of the year. The Sydney Olympic Games Opening Ceremony gave the world the opportunity to hear the brilliance of Elena Kats-Chernin. Together with Bach, it will be a charged, emotional and triumphant concert by the Brandenburg Choir and Orchestra and some ravishing music.

The 2014 season has an edge, and it’s the next generation of spectacular young superstars who will dominate the year. Avi Avital from Israel and the stunning Russian baroque violinist Dmitry Sinkovsky will absolutely radiate razor sharp finesse with virtuosity and purity.

One of the unforgettable programs will be the Baroque Ottoman series – a magical journey climaxing with the hauntingly beautiful Turkish Whirling Dervishes from Istanbul.

There is rhythmical momentum with high performance masterpieces of Mozart – the Jupiter Symphony and the exquisite Concerto for Flute and Harp. And of course, the year cannot stop before the hugely popular annual Noel! Noel! concerts in December. Come and indulge yourself in good living and a simple pleasure. Surround yourself with the sounds of the Brandenburg, its glittering international artists and my 2014 25th Anniversary Season.
